Zero length emails

Since a few days Zmailer (running on FC6-x86_64) started acting up for me.
I had a crash of the daemon and since about the same time I am receiving
a large number of totally empty emails which contain only the envelope
"From" line like:

  From <>  Wed Apr 25 11:24:35 2007

No headers or body at all.  Any idea what might be something like this to
suddenly start?
