Thanks!  I keep forgetting to say this most obvious statement when I
talk to folks who complain about quoting in various languages but then
have the gall to say parentheses in lisp/scheme are worse.

Good point.  It would sutbly destroy Duff's lexical structure to include
some way of referencing non-flat lists.  In his paper Duff says similar
things about the kludge for identifying parens that immediately follow a
word without any whitespace.

I don't know much about es either.
