Re: Header re-write

| The way localnames works now is more useful. I use it.

Sorry, I'm not convinced. Just because you can use it doesn't mean the
accessory is worth its cost. Maybe it is, but I've never needed it
after years and years, and I'm sure there are more worthy things, like
plain old bugfixes, that could have been worked on instead.

| The
| differences between the old localnames and the new is easier to summarize
| than the differences between IDA and V8.

So what? Two wrongs don't make a right. If I were to run sendmail,
I'd run V8, since Eric is maintaining it. IDA is exactly the sort of
mutant that zmailer must not turn into.

| Have you used 2.99?

No, and I'm not going to. It has too many features that I need to
avoid. Goals for 3.0 should be to remove every feature humanly
possible, and make the rest solid and reliable. I'll consider
upgrading if there are fewer lines of code in 3.0 than 2.2.

| The real problem with 2.99, is the lack of workers. Zmailer needs
| more patches/docs and less flames.

No, it needs more engineering and less hacking. By all means, improve
the documentation. Fix old bugs. Remove unworthy features (and reduce
the documentation burden at the same time!) But don't add new features
unless users (that means me) can't live without them.

Vehemence is necessary; this is important.
