Sender address rewriting

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

Hello all,

We need to rewrite sender adresses from the form:
login@branch.company.tld
to the following form:
firstname.lastname@company.tld
because the main SMTP server has a list of valid sender adresses in that form.

There was no problem with sending mail from users, as they have their mail
clients configured to use firstname.lastname@company.tld. But the problem
appeared when we started to use vacation. The vacation replies used the form
login@branch.company.tld, and such mail bounced back to postmaster.

We use fqdnaliases to deliver mail, and I foud that userdb can rewrite the
- From header, but it was not sufficent. The upstream SMTP server still sees
the "bad" sender adress (perhaps in SMTP command MAIL FROM ...) and refuses
to deliver the vacation replies.

Any help & hints will be appreciated.
