Hundreds of re-tries...

I've been trying to figure this out for weeks now, but our logs still
indicate that zmailer is making HUNDREDS of attempts each day to deliver
individual messages to local accounts that are over quota... 

Yesterdays report...

Top 10 Local Delivery Failures (one msg may be attempted many times)

That's 300,000 attempts vs. 10,000 deliveries!

mailq reports (retry in 7h56m55s, expires in 2d6h, tries=55) which is
consistent with scheduler.conf  ...but syslog shows actual retries at a
frantic rate....

It looks to me as if at least seven different processes have tried to
deliver this message in a fifteen minute period... which seems a bit
curious?
