Some people have /var/spool/mail mode 1777...so users can dot-lock.  If
you're going to do things based on the existance of a file/dir in the mail
spool dir, it might be good to not act on it unless it's owned by a
certain uid...like 0, or better, put that directory in another that would
not generally be world writable.
