ZMailer 2.99.56-pre4 compilation problems on alpha-dec

Hi,
I'm trying to compile ZMailer 2.99.56-pre4 on an alpha:
uname -a 
OSF1 server1 V4.0 878 alpha 
cc -V
DEC C V5.6-079 on Digital UNIX V4.0 (Rev. 878) 

Configure runs ok without errors. The compilation gives some warnings in the
sfhdr.h file: syntax error on line 350,  _mmap_worthy; and then it aborts
with "exit 2" (sorry I don't have the exact line here).

Could it be that my cc is old and it's not working? I've tried to compile
versions 2.99.55 and 2.99.54 with same results. Version 2.99.51 compiles ok,
but that's my installed version...
