smtp-auth against SASL db

Does anyone happen to have a mechanism for getting zmailer to
authenticate against an SASL database, presumably (but not necessarily)
via the "PARAM smtp-auth-pipe" feature?

Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but I've not been able to
locate a command line program that does a simple noninteractive user
authentication against SASL.  It's hard to believe that one would not
already exist.

FWIW, this is a for a system which uses zmailer->procmail->Cyrus IMAPD.
