David, if you figure out a way to get this going with zmailer, let me
know.

I wanted to add my 2 cents re: the spamming issue. Someone decided
to attack me after posting my entirely valid technical question to
this group, assuming I was some sort of spam artist. The fact is I
run over 1500 VOLUNTARY email mailing lists. They are NOT
discussion forums, they are distribution lists, however the fact
that we are sending requested press releases vs hosting academic
discussions does not detract from the fact that our users have
requested the information we send them. Also, we make it far easier
to unsubscribe from such a list than it is with listserv, etc.

Both spamming and knee-jerk reactionism will hurt the (still
relatively) open and free Internet community equally.

Btw: most spammers nowadays do not have the technical know how to run
their own servers and instead use windows based programs that send
all the mail through a local ISP over a 28.8 or some other dialup
connection. There's lots of silly programs that grab email addresses
from AOL or newsgroups and mail them from a PC. That's not what I'm
after.

Thanks for listening to my brief rant, you may now return to your
regularly scheduled zmailer discussion.

:)

Ryan
