Re: Problems receiving mail
OK. I have made some changes that should make things better, but there
are still a few problems.
Changes that I have made:
+ Added an A record for ethical.com to point to the same IP
as parker.ethical.com (the only machine).
+ Changed the MX records to point to parker.ethical.com and
service.bluefin.net.
+ Added a few more entries to db/localnames.
Below is db/localnames:
#a
#b Remap local names (and recognize them) to their "canonic" forms.
#c thus having multiple machines on the same mailer..
#d
dbc-mifco.com stimpy.dbc-mifco.com
ethical.com parker.ethical.com
localhost localhost
localhost.dbc-mifco.com localhost
localhost.ethical.com localhost
loghost loghost
loghost.dbc-mifco.com loghost
loghost.ethical.com loghost
mail.dbc-mifco.com stimpy.dbc-mifco.com
mail.ethical.com parker.ethical.com
parker.ethical.com parker.ethical.com
stimpy.dbc-mifco.com stimpy.dbc-mifco.com
I can not follow the references to the documentation. In the INSTALL
file, there are two sections numbered 7&8. Is this what is meant?
If so, then below is the mail.conf file:
orgdomain=ethical.com
hostname=parker.$orgdomain
mydomain=$orgdomain
When I use the router to look at what it is doing to addresses, I get
the following:
Address result from router
hickey (local hickey hickey default_attributes)
hickey@parker (local hickey@parker hickey d_a)
hickey@parker.ethical.com (local hickey@parker.ethical.com hickey d_a)
hickey@ethical.com (smtp ethical.com hickey@ethical.com d_a)
It seems to me that the router code should be resolving the ethical.com
domain to a local channel also. Am I thinking wrongly here?
While trying to debug what is going on, I would receive a message from
the "postoffice" that the email could not be send because the transport
agent was trying to talk to itself.
I'm sorry that I am not really able to provide examples. I am logged in
through a single session instead of having my normal X sessions going.
Also, please respond to my hickey@ctron.com address, for this address
may provide some problems.
Thanks.
